| A panorama of hte inside of the colosseum. It held molre than 70,000 spectators. It had marble facing on every surface (which was later taken to decorate the palaces and churches of Rome), had hundreds of statues for decoration, and even had a "velarium" - like huge shade sails, that were rigged with ropes to protect the spectators from the rain and sun. They had to be manned by imperial sailors! | |
